A Timeless Toast: The Classic Champagne Cocktail

New Year’s Eve calls for something effortlessly elegant, and the Classic Champagne Cocktail always delivers. Light, celebratory and beautifully simple, it’s the kind of drink that feels right at midnight — bubbles rising, glasses clinking and the year turning over.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 sugar cube

  • ¼ tsp bitters

  • 10ml cognac

  • 75ml cold champagne from BWS

  • strip of orange peel

DIRECTIONS

Step 1

Put the sugar cube on a small dish, then drizzle with the bitters, turning a few times so it’s fully coated

Step 2

Drop the cube into a champagne flute, then top up with the cognac. Slowly pour over the champagne.

Step 3

Twist the orange peel over to express the oils, then discard or loop around the stem of the glass.
