Your Guide to Spring Hosting

Spring is made for getting people together. Longer days, warmer afternoons and plenty of reasons to bring everyone around the table. Hosting doesn’t need to mean spending all day in the kitchen either. With a few easy food finds, simple table touches and something sweet to finish, Chester Square makes pulling together a spring gathering much easier.

1. Build a Grazing Spread Made for Sharing

Start with food that looks good on the table and doesn’t need much fuss. Pick up seasonal fruit from Fresh4Less, then add cheeses, dips, crackers and antipasto from Woolworths. Fresh bread from Friand Bakery brings everything together, giving guests plenty to pick at while the host can actually enjoy the gathering too.

2. Set the Scene for Spring

The table doesn’t need a complete makeover to feel special. Fresh blooms from Woolworths can instantly bring some colour to the space, while VNH Dollars has the practical entertaining extras, from servingware and glassware to napkins and table essentials. Keep the styling relaxed, colourful and easy to pull together.

3. Make Seafood Part of the Spread

For something a little more special, Seafood Delight can put together custom seafood platters made for sharing. It’s an easy way to add fresh seafood to the table without having to plan and prepare everything yourself.

Serve it alongside your grazing spread for a spring gathering that feels generous, relaxed and made for sharing.

4. Pour, Serve & Enjoy

With the food sorted, finish the gathering with the Spring Gin Blossom recipe from BWS, with options for a laid-back afternoon or evening catch-up.

Spring Gin Blossom

Light, floral and made for a sunny afternoon, the Spring Gin Blossom brings together crisp gin, peach and citrus with a subtle bitter edge. The edible flowers frozen into the ice make it feel extra special without adding more work, making this an easy cocktail to serve at a spring lunch or catch-up.

Ingredients

  • 30ml Silent Pool Gin

  • 30ml bianco vermouth

  • 20ml peach schnapps

  • Dash of orange bitters

  • Ice

  • Citrus peel

  • Edible flowers

Method

  1. Place edible flowers into large ice cubes and freeze ahead of time.

  2. Add the gin, bianco vermouth, peach schnapps and orange bitters to a mixing glass.

  3. Fill with ice and stir for 15–20 seconds until well chilled.

  4. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. Add the floral ice cube and finish with an expressed orange peel.

Spring hosting tip: Make the floral ice cubes the day before, so the cocktail comes together quickly once guests arrive. 🌸

Save a little room for Russian honey cakes from Chester Square Manoush Cafe for something sweet after the meal.
